It basically makes HK very similar to China mainland. No, you can't protest against any criminal activities done by government. Normal people who want to protest for their freedom and sovereignty are sacked of such things so readily in HK that in recent times we haven't heard about any protests there! This is evident now that HK has become just the next territory of China.
