Or you can get "older" MacBookPro and load it with Debian/Ubuntu. It does recognize almost all hardware and you can extend the life of that box for another 4-5 years. I use few of them as nodes in my kubernetes cluster, with battery backup included, it's working like a charm :-) Just an idea.

Yeah, that's a great idea.
I also like the old thinkpads. You can pick them up for cheap on Ebay

This is helpful. I’ve been entrenched in the Apple ecosystem for years but I’m wanting more and more to give Linux a try. I’ll be looking into these options more closely!
