Damus may be pulled from Apple's app store

Just now from Damus developer Will:

Damus will be removed from the app store in 14 days, apple says zaps are not allowed on their platform because they could be used by content creators to sell digital content. This is right before I’m about to give my talk at the oslo freedom forum on how decentralized social networks with lightning integration are bringing financial freedom to the masses... pretty sus… 😕

I've always thought building native iOS apps only was foolish for this reason. You're completely locked in to their platform. This is why we built Mutiny as a PWA.

I always wonder about it, too. I think people are just exploring in different ways and sometimes they find something old.

It is odd that it's more often zaps than comments.

When it is something popular I posted I don't think much of it, I assume the algo recommended it, someone read it and zapped but when it is something really random I must ask: pourquoi?

Damus being removed from the appstore is absolutely insane. I feel like there is a duopoly on smart phones for normies, whether it is google store or apple store - they control the gates of freedom for discussion.

Downloading apps from a web browser is a setting you can enable and there's a pop up to go to the setting to enable it when you try to do it on Android.

The play store is just there to hold people's hand.
