I feel like the social recovery route, (i.e. getting friends & family to hold things for you) is WAY worse than a seed phrase because it introduces new risks outside of your own control.

At least with a seed phrase you can physically secure it in a safe or bury it in the forest... Things that mankind has been doing for millennia to back up their wealth.
