Yeah, not to hate on someone because everyone is just trying to do their thing. But, his whole shtick feels so fake. Like he is trying out this character but it just does not come off authentic.

Strike is doing great in bridging Bitcoin with the mainstream world, but in doing so it is compromising on the power of what lightning and protocols built on lightning offer.

Not seeing the value in having this yet. I do think this could be the parallel system taking form. No one wants to see an absolute collapse of the dollar but having apps like this that can make the transition easier and then boom people start to use BTC more than the fiat. One must remember the regulatory burden these neo bitcoin financial companies face. I think the tax thing is a huge burden along with all the KYC AML stuff.

The only thing I thought would be useful was if you have made big gains in your bitcoin and wanted to use it for stuff, this makes it easy.

It's pretty big if you're a Strike user. Though, all bitcoiners stand to benefit from the 1% donation to Bitcoin Core development! I'm not a user of Fold, but as I understand it, Strike differs by offering a broader suite of Financial Services.

It’s 1% of profits though, not 1% of your spending. If I go out to a nice dinner and spend $100, Strike and Visa split 3% for payment processing fees. To make that $1.50, Strike has operational costs that need to be covered, let’s just assume there’s $1 profit. Bitcoin core gets $0.01, a single penny, from that purchase.
I’m a fan of Strike and buy my BTC using their app as it’s the lowest fees, and I’m a huge supporter of funding Bitcoin Core devs, but even at scale the amount donated via this program is going to be minuscule IMO.

The fact that visa and other companies are getting more in contact with LN, so that they can understand the benefits of bitcoin is a good thing.
However, whenever I see things like:
- Deployed in only specific countries.
- Waitlists.
- Strike donating to BTC (I presume to specific devs that share Strike ideas)
I just see the same old fiat/centralized crap. IMHO. Still wish them luck!!
