Ocean Atlas is a statue measuring over five metres tall and weighing 60 tonnes that rests in the seas of Nassau in the Bahamas.
The piece depicts a child trying to carry a heavy burden and is named after Atlas, the Greek god responsible for carrying the heavens on his shoulders.
The craftsman of this impressive work is Jason deCaires Taylor, who proudly acknowledges that the sculpture - like his other underwater works - is made of a pH-neutral cement that, over time, allows coral reefs to thrive on its surface.
