Recently, I've been enjoying sharing black and white portraits. I feel like this format allows us to appreciate more the details , the wrinkles, the eyes of the people.

For that reason, I wanted to share these portraits with you, as I believe they work better in black and white.

A few days ago, I documented the Venezuelan spinning top festival, but in this post, I want to focus more on the people than the festival itself.

For example, this man is known in town as the king of the spinning top. He's the one who has handcrafted 90% of all the spinning tops that exist in this town.

Speaking with Mr. Eusebio Vivas, he told us that he has been making spinning tops since he was 14 years old and he is currently 90 years old. Imagine that, 76 years of experience in the art of making spinning tops!

In addition to photographing the king of the spinning top, I also took a couple of portraits of some of the event organizers. These portraits are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the people who make this festival possible.

At an event like this, there are always a lot of people, and where there are a lot of people, there are also street vendors trying to make some money.

And finally, I want to share some of the photos I took of the people who were watching the event:

I really liked this photo because the man was sitting under a tree, next to the statue of the spinning top and there was a cross in the background. There was a very interesting composition with good depth.

A little later, I saw the same man walking by. I couldn't help but take a picture of him, even though it was from behind. I liked the way the light was hitting his hat.

This man caught my attention because of his typical elderly clothing. When I think of my grandfather, that's how I see him dressed too, haha!

As I was walking by, this couple saw me with my camera and asked me to take a picture of them. I was happy to do it, and I was even more touched when the woman immediately picked up their dog and held him in her arms for the photo. It was a sweet reminder of the bond between people and their pets.

I am very happy to share these photos with you because the type of photography that I like to do the most is portraits and I feel that all these photos came out very beautiful!
