A bitcoin can be divided up to 8 decimal points. 0.00000001 BTC is one satoshi. Satoshis cannot be divided on the base layer. Lightning network allows for millisats, but that will have to be rounded away when settling channels.
The bitcoin block subsidy will end in around a century. Bitcoin as a currency and network will not end, miners will have to depend on transaction fees alone.
