The fact that Toronto is ranked 8 just proves my thesis that cities are shitcoins.
Toronto's main highway into downtown, the Gardiner Expressway, is crumbling and there are homeless encampments littered underneath all the overpasses. The city is broke. The subway system is terrible. Traffic is awful. Crime and drug use are becoming rampant and the leftists that run the city don't seem to care. It will cost you 3k a month rent for a shoebox in the sky or 2M if you want to buy a decent house.
Toronto does have some really nice areas, good entertainment and nightlife options, ample job and business opportunities. I think it is a good city to live if you are rich and or young trying to move up the ladder and enjoy social life. I don't think it is a good place to raise a family.
What about Montreal?
I wonder why Tokyo is not on the list

Montreal is a great place to visit. I haven't been in over a decade though so I can't really comment on what the city is like now. It used to be a mainstay on these lists, I am not sure why that changed. I have family that live in the the Montreal area but they are about 40 mins from the city.
