Hello Stackers!

It's Thursday and as always we throwback to way back when. When times were different, the good old days.

What throwback tracks have you got, where does it take you?

So let's have a little trip down memory lane with this absolute anthem from the Boss in 1984!

But also, actually happy 4th, hope you and yours are doing well.

3/4 of my household hold US passports so I am allowed to join in the celebrations right?

reply

We put down the Tories for today so sure let's all celebrate.

Is that a good thing? I mean I am not a fan of Rishi or any politician for that matter but I can't imagine the "labour" party filled with a bunch of crazed leftists that have never "laboured" a day in their lives is going to be much better.

reply

I honestly can't tell. But I know the Tories needed to be ousted. Hopefully the rest of the British public is intelligent enough (doubt it) to keep a really sharp eye on Starmer and his crew. And I hope that if it's necessary, they oust them in the same fashion. But we shall see.

NIN! What a massive band. Great throwback track aswell.

huge! And they were the godparents of marilyn manson.

It's so cool how without one band walking another would never have run. It's widespread throughout the industry but yeah you can very clearly hear that influence in Manson, who himself became huge in the goth rock scene.

Saxophonist, David Sanborn, passed away on May 12th of this year. He contributed to this 1985 song by Kenny Loggins that I recently re-discovred. Originally heard this for the first time on a smooth jazz radio station (94.7, The Wave) in Los Angeles in the late 90s:

I feel like Loggins is a bit underrated as a vocalist. He's one of my all-time favorite.

I actually like loggins as a vocalist. And I'm sad to hear about Sanborn's passing. Really great saxophonist, this song is great. RIP 🫡
