An anthropologist proposed a game to the children of a South African tribe. He placed a basket of fruits near a tree and told the children that the first one to arrive would win all the fruits.
At the signal, all the children rushed forward at the same time... holding hands!
Then they sat down together to enjoy their reward.
When the anthropologist asked them why they had acted this way, when one of them could have had all the fruits, they replied:
"Ubuntu. How can one of us be happy if all the others are sad?"
UBUNTU in Xhosa culture (South Africa) means:
"I am because we are"
