Am I correct that this can only charge the user's crypto.com account but not receive actual chain or lightning payments?
It appears that way.
At time of payment, the merchant selects Crypto.com as the preferred payment type, generating a dynamic QR Code on the terminal which is scanned through the customer’s Crypto.com App. The customer then selects and authorises their preferred cryptocurrency for payment, which is settled instantly to the merchant in fiat AUD.
If that's complete, then the customer needs to be using the Crypto.com app. At least that's the way it reads to me. The point-of-sale button the merchant presses to get the QR code will show "Crypto.com" as the payment type.

That's some serious garbage.
