That's an unfair judgement because this was live reporting in the seconds it was happening.
If you look just minutes later all these outlets do use the words "assassination attempt"
I hear you, but no mention of his bloody face? Saying he fell when he was dragged down by Secret Service?
These outlets long since lost the benefit of the doubt and these headlines are exactly in line with what we've come to expect from them. Supposedly professional journalists should be able to do better.
"Possible shots fired. Visibly wounded Trump escorted off stage." Something like that should have been pretty easy to come up with.
