As bad as those headlines are, I can see the incentives that produce them. These media outlets have to have something posted to their pages about what happened within minutes of the actual event. But they don't want to over reach on the headline because they don't know what happened. Everyone is thinking that it was gun shots and an assassination attempt. But they can't write that until they are sure. At least they were quickly updated as additional facts became known.
