What an incredible weekend for Tadej Pogacar. He has won the two stages at the Pyrenees.
On Saturday, helped by his team mate Yates, he left the peloton just 5 km from the finish to chase down Healy. Then, he left the company of them to go solo to the finish line at Saint-Lary-Soulan. Vingegaard only could finish second at 39 seconds and Evenopoel third at 1m 10 sec. Other favourites to win the Tour, such as Roglic and Ayuso, had to leave early because of a fall and COVID, respectively.
Following day, another stage ending in Plateau de Beille. This time, Vingegaard tried to take responsibility and accelerated with only 11km to go. They managed to chase down Mas and Carapaz at the tête de la course. With 5km to go, again, Pogacar attacked and managed to increase the difference with Vingegaard just above a minute. Again, Evenopoel, finished third at the top.
At the general ranking, Pogacar has a difference of 3’ 9” over Vingegaard and 5’ 19” over Evenopoel. It seems enough to win the Maillot Jaune in Nice on Sunday.
