In the past week or so, I was notified that I (via my GitHub profile) was eligible to receive an airdrop of some ETH-based token due to the open source work I've done on "web3 projects". In my case, that means stacker.news.
At first, it definitely read like a scam. I'm still not 100% sure it's not. But I read more into it to scope it out. The related project can be found here.
As I understand it, I need to prove ownership of the private SSH key linked to a public SSH key associated with my GitHub account by signing some content with the private key. Once I do that, I will receive some kind of time-locked ETH-backed airdrop send to an ETH address (of which I have none).
Now, I don't know much of anything about ETH, but I do recognize this as an opportunity to get some more KYC-free BTC. The problem is, I have no idea how to go about making that kind of conversion in a KYC-free way.
I know many stackers have some history with cRyPtO like ETH, so I am calling on stackers for some tips/guidance.
How can I generate an ETH address to receive this airdrop, and once the time-lock completes, convert it to BTC without using some KYC'd exchange?
Thank you in advance!
