There are many reasons for why salaries vary between countries: economic development, cost of living, labor laws, and a variety of other factors. Because of these variables, it can be difficult to gauge the general level of income around the world. With this in mind, we’ve visualized the average annual salaries of 30 OECD countries, adjusted for purchasing power parity (PPP). This means that the values listed have taken into account the differences in cost of living and inflation between countries. This data was sourced from the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), an international organization that promotes policies to improve economic and social well-being. It has 38 member countries, though in this instance, data for all of them was not available.

I think that India's cost of living is way too lower than the west so the salaries are still lower. Yes in some sectors it needs to increase.
Nice article!

India is rightly not in the list. The average salary here is way lower than Mexico!

For one I work in IT, to be more profitable we off shore work to India for a fraction of the cost of US workers. Stock prices up for some, low wages for others.

I have been living here in Lima, Peru for a little over 7 years... and the average or minimum salary as they call it here... has not been adjusted or if they have, it has been very little... taking into account all the economic collapse What the pandemic and other factors brought us... here in this country it is more profitable and stable to be a trader on your own... or what they call it here, an informal salesperson... you are the owner of your time... you don't have a boss... and you earn more that how little they pay in companies for you to work 10 hours or more...
