When the buffalo bills benched Doug Flutie for Rob Johnson to play the Tennessee Titans in the 1999 (or maybe 2000) playoffs I was all in as a young boy! Big arm and could run I thought this it! Bye bye Flutie.
Let the Rob era begin. After being robbed of play off win by Frank (RIP) and Kevin it was nothing but downhill from there.
As a young boy I really wanted to believe the team was making the best decision to win games come to find out the call came from ownership. Flutie should have started that game.
And Rob welp he wasn’t the next big thing just another QB in the 20 year QB wasteland that was buffalo before Josh showed up.
Music City miracle Wade Philips was head coach
I heard one of the bills beat writers talk about Rob Johnson. He signed a big contract and lost motivation to play

Sounds about right

I forgot to mention that one criticism of him was that he was too laid back to be NFL quarterback. I interpreted that to mean he wasn’t obsessed with improving his game.

I don’t remember him well. Name is familiar but that’s about it.
