From the Boston Globe:
“All-Star Game ratings up 6 percent, but still second-lowest in event's history. Paul Skenes, Shohei Ohtani, Jarren Duran, and the rest of this year's All-Stars drew 7,443,000 viewers on Fox, up 6 percent from the 2023 game but the second lowest for the event.”
Not great but an uptick and still better than ratings for NBA, NFL, NHL all star competitions.
I am just saying those uniforms have to go... awful would be a compliment to how bad they were
Yeah, they were terrible.
I honestly didnt even get the color scheme... where they a sorry attempt at a Negro League attempt? I just cant figure out what league or teams ever used jerseys like that
I think they were tying to go with a historic look with more modern colours.
Still better than last years. But yeah not great. I would like them to go back to wearing their home team’s uniform.
Why we ever left that is truly mindblowing... I follow baseball pretty freakin thoroughly but sometimes I have absolutely no idea who someone plays for and there is an easy fix to that.... God forbid MLB does it but fingers crossed after what Manfred said yesterday
I'm pretty sure that's better than the NBA Finals ratings. I guess it's the only major sport where the stars actually play at a high level in the all star game.
11.3M was avg viewing for NBA finals
Is that because they changed the calculation? I could have sworn it was around 4M a few years ago.
Not sure. 2020 had a 4 rating which was 7.45M avg viewers. That was the lowest ever.
Maybe the problem is just me not understanding ratings numbers.
“Nielsen calculates the percentage of their panel that watched each given program and reports that data as a number; if a program gets a reported 9.6 Nielsen rating, that means 9.6% of the panel watched that program; thus Nielsen estimates that 9.6% of American households watched the program.”
That's pretty straightforward. Here's what I think I was actually thinking of, though:

+7 million isn't a bad number! But if I look at it with my cricketing eyes, it's not even 1% to India's World Cup game against Australia in 2023!

It’s an exhibition game. It isn’t going to compete with a World Cup final game.
I agree. May be @IamSINGLE don't know about the exibition game! Nobody understands Baseball here. Also ant game of Cricket involving India attracts many billions of viewers, no matter if it was a big game or not. Only one game that competes with Cricket in viewership is Football.
The game is played so differently now. Guys have up playing to win in those games about a decade ago! Sad.
Yeah. Do you think they should offer a big incentive to win?
I mean 3/4 of these guys have already made a ton of money. I think if there were a different incentive which I can’t think of at the moment would motivate them to put on a show.
As the league progresses people will start taking interest.
