pull down to refresh

We are at the last week of a new edition of Le Tour. This year, first ever in history, it finishes out of Paris. So, its last day will be in Nice with an individual time-trial. Last time this happened, it was in 1989. France was expecting a victory from Laurent Fignon. However, Greg Lemond (USA) completed an incredible ride in the last stage and could beat the French for just 8 seconds. You can imagine the disappointment in France that year.
It does not seem to be the case this year. Pogacar has clinched another victory, four in total, this week. He is the strongest rider this year, not only beating his rivals but also winning stages. Yesterday another show at Isola 2000.
There are two stages left. Today, the road is also going up. Three first category climbs, which I am sure will not be a huge problem for Pogacar. We will see if the fifth victory is on his way.
In sports, and especially in cycling, you can never feel as a winner up to the last finish line, as Fignon may tell you. But a huge surprise will be if Pogacar does not win it. I think that 5- and 7-minutes distance, from Vingegaard and Evenopoel respectively, looks enough gap to remain confident.
Let’s embrace the last 2 days of this edition.
Its too bad that he wont complete the triple.

I think he is still thinking to participate in the UCI road world championship. So that , if he wins there he would have achieved something that only two cyclists have done it before: Stephen Roche and Eddy Merckx.

I think there are only a few who have done the triple, though. And he is in very good shape, he could easily compete and dominate.
