I'm curious how their thesis will play out. While they were working on this, which is no small feat, everyone declared self-custody dead for plebs. Are plebs going to use custodial or federated custodial taproot assets and this is meant for "big players," or do they plan to make the non-custodial pleb UX competitive with Tron?

Extremely retarded. A contract is not a shitcoin. Fiat and equities are real things and you understand nothing about the process of hyperbitcoinization -- perhaps if you could think more clearly, you could be a shining beacon that would help fewer people stray from the path of being human into shitcoinery.
By your "logic" you must hate bitcoin too since various people are using bitcoin "natively" for shitcoining. 🤡🤡🤡
By your "logic", where the tool exists separately from the space of all possible usage, you must be in bitcoin for the "blockchain technology" and fail to recognize the uniqueness of bitcoin.
Maybe try giving yourself some dopamine hits without being retarded? Go outside, get some sunshine, eat a steak.

Irrational hatred of Blockstream

I hate Blockstream? Or are you saying that is why people don't like Lightning Labs?

Sorry
not you
I meant to say many SN users hate Blockstream and any project associated with Blockstream
For example, some people think Blockstream is a public company.

Congrats to the team and developers for completing this! Possible this will obsolete the Tron and Eth networks for stablecoins but time will tell.

Absolutely ignorant question: why do Taproot gets so much hate?

SN community hates Blockstream
Gregory Maxwell used to be CTO of Blockstream
Same reason why Liquid gets a lot of hate
I knew it was related to Blockstream but I had to verify after trusting my instincts
SN users stridency is only matched by their predictability

Ok, but... it has something to do with the tech itself? Or it's just because it "smells" to some?

one comment below, Lightning Labs no good, with zero explanation

But it doesn't tries to be bitcoin, so that can't be an argument. It's like criticizing a bike because it's not a car. Well... it's not trying to be a car... it's a bike...

You asked why there's so much hate. Not sure how your analogy tracks.
A better analogy: You ask "why do bikes get so much hate?" on a car forum. "cause not car" is a sufficient reason.
reply
21 sats \ 3 replies \ @didiplaywell 23 Jul
It's really not. Bikes get justified hate for being inherently unsafe. That's a sufficient reason, that's an argument. No one will justify bikes getting hate by saying "it's not a car", that's not how an argument works. Unless it's a flawed argument.
Be mindful I'm not saying that's your argument, but if what you brought up is the common argument, then it can be safely discarded.

Hate is subjective. Literally any answer works.

21 sats \ 0 replies \ @didiplaywell 23 Jul
I agree in the case of subjective hate, no discussion there. But I was just curious if there's anything solid supporting it. Like again, people hating motorbikes because they're widow-making machines.

I wonder if this will get exchanges to finally use LN now that their favourite shitcoin USDT will be available on it, if Tether does action as they said they would, might be good for bringing in some P2P liquidity
Other than that, I don't see what value debt instruments on LN bring, leave that for the altcoins to deal with, we've got bigger fish to fry
