Yes. Even though the opening ceremony has not been held, some sports have already start.
The first one to begin the road to the medals is the football or soccer, for most of you. Some of the main squads have started as expected. These included France and Spain. Japan has scored 5 goals against Paraguay.
But the surprise has come from Argentina side. They were losing their game against Morocco 2-1. The referee decided to add 15 minutes, as extra time due to time lost during the match. Then, Argentina got an equalizer at the end of the extra time and some Moroccan fans ran on to the pitch. The referee decided to take the players off the pitch until police could control the fans.
After all the fans were removed from the stadium, the match continued with the Argentinian goal being disallowed, apparently due to offside position. So, the match resumed after two hours to play the last 3 minutes and ended with a Moroccan victory.
The other sport which started today was Rugby Sevens. Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Argentina and Fiji has won both matches played today. More action to come tomorrow with QFs arranged for tomorrow evening. The medals matches will be played on Saturday 27th.
Tomorrow, apart from men’s rugby sevens, women’s football, handball and archery make their debut.
Stay tuned for the results!
SAINT-ETIENNE, France (AP) — The Olympic men’s soccer tournament got off to a violent and chaotic start Wednesday with Morocco’s shocking 2-1 win against two-time gold medalist Argentina.
The result tells only part of the story after a dramatic end to the match in Saint-Etienne, which had to be suspended for nearly two hours when furious Morocco fans ran on to the pitch and threw bottles from the stands to protest a late goal by Argentina in the 16th minute of added time.
The angry and bizarre scene sparked confusion over whether the game had been concluded or paused. The crowd was told to leave the stadium, but players remained at the venue and returned to the pitch for a final three minutes of added time in front of empty stands.

It’s weird this kind of behaviour, to be honest. It’s just football. Violence has not place in sport. Those who try to use it, should be banned.

It's Morocco where most drugs in Spain come from?
