My brother and sister-in-law have a sweet boy. Today they were busy with their work and could not go to the school to pick up their son, so they kindly asked me to help them if I could go and pick him up.
Since I was not very busy today, I went to pick him up myself. While waiting for my nephew to finish school, I looked around and saw a bench that was painted red while all the other benches were black.
When my nephew went out finely, I asked him why this bench was painted red while all the others were painted black.
He told me that it was the bench of friendship. But when he noticed I did not seem to understand anything, he added: "The children call it the bench of friendship. Whoever feels lonely and has no one to play with, go and sit on that bench. The other children, seeing him or her standing alone, go and ask him or her to play with them."
I was speechless!
Then I hesitantly asked my nephew, "And you, my love, have you ever sat on that bench?"
And he said to me: ‘Yes. I remember when I first joined this school (my nephew had to transfer to this school during the middle of that school year) and I had no friend to play with, I went and sat on the bench. There was one boy who came to ask me to play with him. So, when I see someone sitting there, I run there and take them to play with me."
I loved that great idea!
Your anecdote is incredible and shows that children always have better ways of relating to each other, not to mention knowing that everyone can play regardless of their age or where they come from.
