This is the second version of my article that I wrote a 6-7 month ago. The first version now seems not very well written, structured. I'll try to do better this time)

What are Watch-Only Wallets?

Watch-only wallets are wallets that allow users to track their bitcoin assets without the ability to spend them. They use only public keys, making them secure for monitoring balances and transactions. These wallets are ideal for those who want to keep track of their funds without the risk of losing them due to unauthorized access.

My Personal Experience and Recommendations

I've used several watch-only wallets over the past few years, and each one had its own unique features.
Important: it is the watch-only functionality that is the key consideration. That's the main goal.
Here are my recommendations:

Electrum

Electrum is a veteran that requires little introduction. Lightweight, very functional (but that's not what we need right now). On the downside, it has an outdated interface. Suitable for olds.

BlueWallet

BlueWallet is a mobile wallet focused exclusively on bitcoin. it can work with the Lightning network, which allows users to conduct instant transactions with low fees. I found its interface very user-friendly, especially when managing multiple wallets simultaneously. On the downside, the app takes a long time to launch, even on powerful smartphones.

Blockstream Green

Blockstream Green is a good option that is constantly being improved and finalized. It also has LN functionality, but in experimental mode and is still very raw, I don't recommend it for regular use. The rest of Onchain's functionality is good with this one. This wallet was my favorite to watch, but later I changed my choice.

Unstoppable Wallet

Unstoppable Wallet is an open source multi-currency wallet. Yes, it supports shieldcoins, but no one forces you to use them and it can be used quite well as an observation. Unnecessary functionality is disabled in the settings and you can leave only bitcoin.

Sentinel by Samourai

Sentinel by Samourai is a specialized watch-only wallet that allows users to track their assets without the risk of spending them. Not a bad option either, but with a slightly outdated interface. Tried to force myself to use it, but couldn't for a long time. It turned out to be uncomfortable)

Trezor Suite Lite

I decided on this option. When I wrote the first article, the application was very raw and worked crookedly. Now most of the bugs have been fixed and it is very good. There is detailed information on transactions, comparison of historical rate at the moment of transaction and at the current moment. I recommend to try it. Simple xpub/zpub import

Conclusion

Watch-only wallets are a useful tool for bitcoin users, allowing them to track their assets without the risk of losing funds. Each of the presented wallets has its own unique advantages and disadvantages, so choosing a specific solution depends on your needs.
Watch only are not only for tracking your assets, IMO the are a great tool for businesses where BTC is accepted as a payment method.
For example, in a restaurant the staff could have a Watch only wallet in order to receive payment from the customers and the owner / manager could have the wallet with access to the funds in order to make payments or move the sats to another wallet.

You can also create a watch only wallet in Wasabi Wallet which synchronizes privately using compact block filters and Tor by default - https://docs.wasabiwallet.io/FAQ/FAQ-UseWasabi.html#can-i-import-a-watch-only-extended-public-key

We're talking more about mobile wallets here, not desktop wallets.
