Why arent they affected as bad as Germany?
Germany is suffering disproportionately from immigration into its social system. Added to this is the shock of the phase-out of nuclear energy, an exaggerated application of the eu climate rules and its dependence on the automotive sector, which is hit hardest by these climate rules. in addition, there are shocks on the energy market that have a different effect in Germany than in Austria, for example the new heating law and similar regulations

So austria is a bit isolated in that regard. Did they have to shut down any nuclear, or are they getting their energy from someplace else?
reply
They shut it down 45 years ago so never got this shock
reply
Does Austria make any of its own energy, or import it all?
reply
They have a high import quota of about 12% of electricity for example
reply
Where do they make the rest of it? Natural gas or coal?

Austria consumes about 80 GWh of electricity. 50% of this comes from hydropower, but over 11% is imported from abroad. Around 17.5% of Austria's electricity comes from the combustion of fossil fuels.

Hydropower? That is actually a very renewable energy. Why cant Gerrmany do this?
