Since yesterday, social media users have discovered that major tech companies have started suppressing the appearance of Donald Trump's name and image in search engines and social media platforms:
  1. Google search engine is ignoring suggested results related to attempts on Donald Trump's life and only provides suggestions for other assassination attempts.
  2. Instagram and Facebook have begun to obscure Trump's iconic image, where he raised his hand immediately after an assassination attempt, citing that it is either a modified image or contains violence.
  3. When asking the AI from Meta (which owns Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram) about the assassination attempt on Trump, the response is: "I cannot access updated information." However, asking about his competitor Kamala Harris yields normal and detailed responses.
  4. When typing "President Donald...", the autocomplete feature does not complete the search with "Trump" but instead suggests "Donald Duck," the cartoon character.
There is currently significant confusion and anger, with accusations that major tech companies are openly interfering in the U.S. elections by suppressing any information related to Trump.
Facebook has admitted that the blocking of Trump’s image was due to an inadvertent error and that the issue will be resolved.
