An unidentified person sent an envelope to French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, containing a mysterious letter and a black powder. Preliminary laboratory analysis has confirmed that the letter is contaminated with Yersinia pestis bacteria, which causes plague, in what appears to be an attempt to harm or even assassinate the minister following the backlash surrounding the Olympics.

According to the newspaper, further tests are being conducted on the materials in the letter to determine its source and identify the sender.
