I had the chance to sit down with Andy Yen, founder and CEO of Proton, to discuss Proton Wallet and answer the many questions we all had around it's history, it's launch, his plans for improving Bitcoin privacy, and much more!

Hey larpers, when Monero shitcoin on Proton?

reply

FUCK OFF SHITCOINER

reply

Last night I saw a Monero shill talking about how people should use it because exchanges won't take their coin-joined bitcoin UTXOs...

So funny. Bro, exchanges don't want ANY Monero. And bro, why you exchanging for fiat? These guys do not get it.

I have one single response for all shitcoiners..

There won’t be Monero support because it’s risky for the wallet itself. It’s gonna be very easy to state Proton would be supporting criminal activity and sue them or remove from app stores. It’s best if it’ll be Bitcoin only. The way they can capitalize on it would be to help using lightning, fedi and aqua and not go into shitcoin territory.

reply

Proton larps as private company, like Lighting.

Why your podcast is red-black theme?
Are you a communist?

reply

LOL that's a first.

Was just the theme that the artist I commissioned went, and I liked the vibe. I am, in fact, not a communist.

reply

Not so sure if you like the red/black theme...

reply

Leave it to Darth to cut to the root questions.

reply

now make sense... shitcoiners are all communists :)

reply

Lmao ahahah

Really interesting interview. I didn't realize their original plan was to launch the wallet with coinjoin support. Also love the analogy he makes between email and bitcoin.

reply

Yeah, he did a fantastic job breaking it down in a way that finally made it make sense. Their initial comms could have been much better to prevent much of the backlash, but grateful he took this chance to clear the air a bit.

Makes me even more sad that Samourai devs are in jail as its second- and third-order effects are massive.

reply

Yeah, you can see it in the git history of the code base. Many "privacy advocates" jumped on them for using bitcoin and also not launching with every privacy feature. Easy to throw rocks.

Good talk
