For decades weight loss pills have been a thing of shady scammers on websites with lots of skin (I know that ... from a friend ... please trust me!)
Now it seems that Big Pharma (Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisc) have been making big breakthroughs in medicine against adipositas. J.P. Morgan sees this as a huge opportunity as its results get close to stomach-shrinking surgery and much more effective than diet & exercise.
I'm torn apart. On one hand I'm a big fan of breakthroughs and solving the worlds problems with clever engineering, technology and progress. Fuck yeah, science b*tch! Cope fcking pessimists, science go brrrr. We yeeted computing power to the fcking moon, world illiteracy, world hunger and poverty are falling steadily, our lifetimes are longer than ever and modern medicine eliminated so many illnesses that our grandparents regularly died from. Why not solve obesity just like any other disease? Fuck Yeah!
On the other hand it's kinda bs that fortune 500 companies sell us addictive fast food and the solution to the consequences. That's bullshit. What a hamsterwheel. How dystopian.
What are your thoughts on this? Should overweight people take this? Is it a good thing if quality of life increases with delicious taste on your taste buds without consequences? Is it a bad thing if middle class gets squeezed between big corporations? Would you take it?
