The thing is, when you have good money, you don't have to think about it. Good money just automatically does a bunch of nearly miraculous stuff and we can just thoughtlessly use it.

The only reason it's necessary to understand money is that if we don't then some sociopath is going to come along and pervert money to serve their ends. This new money would superficially resemble good money and only those who understand money can spot the scam.
