I am livid.
Every boomer with a keyboard is calling me irresponsible for doing what they told me to do. Every boomer (including parents and teachers) told me that college was the only way to avoid living in a ghetto. Well, I spent my 20s living in a ghetto after dropping out of college. They all knew that I was a terrible student, but they told me that I should go to college by any means necessary (i.e. by going into massive debt).
I am at the end of my rope when it comes to boomers and their life advice. Their lies about college were absolutely irresponsible. But now they have the audacity to call me irresponsible for doing what they told me to do.
When they start getting evicted from their overpriced homes (which many of them refinanced at the top of the last market) and they start asking for help, it will be extremely tempting to tell them "I don't want to encourage irresponsible borrowing of money." But I'll probably say nothing and let them figure out the irony of their situation on their own.
