Even when I was substantially more sympathetic to the left, I found conservative talk radio more entertaining than anything they had, except for The Daily Show. 

The left does tend to be kind of whiny these days. I have some memory of it once being different but I can’t be sure. It might just be my own politics that caused my perceptions to change.

I've always found there to be a large difference in entertainment quality, as well.

If right wing media is more popular than left wing media, it might be that people can stand hosts being wrong more than hosts lying to them.
