This song has grown with me for many years. When I first discovered Bitcoin, I thought of this song again, which now speaks to me even more.
The song "Starman" by David Bowie tells the story of an extraterrestrial presence that becomes known on Earth, encouraging people to use their imagination and creativity. The opening lines describe the singer hearing an unusual sound on his radio: "That weren't no D.J. that was hazy cosmic jive," suggesting the message is from space, not a regular radio station.
The "Starman" mentioned in the chorus symbolizes an alien being or a higher power: "There's a starman waiting in the sky." He has a message for humanity but hesitates to meet us, fearing it might overwhelm us: "He'd like to come and meet us, but he thinks he'd blow our minds."
The lines "Let the children lose it, let the children use it, let all the children boogie" can be seen as the Starman's call for people, especially the younger generation, to let go of their fears and fully embrace their creativity and imagination.
The final verse suggests that the existence of the Starman is kept secret, possibly due to fear or misunderstanding: "Don't tell your poppa or he'll get us locked up in fright." Overall, the song is an allegory for breaking free from traditional thinking and encouraging creative and free expression.
I totally agree with you, it's an excellent song, do you identify with it?
