It seems that this initiative is one of the dark sides of the struggle to preserve people’s liberties, hidden under the aegis of the pandemic response. The creation of a vaccine passport that incorporates individual health information is neither only a health decision; it is an outright regression in people’s privacy rights. EU says that this project is designed to put the citizens in a commanding position, this is the biggest fiction. Instead of allowing people to be free, it enslaves them, and our most confidential information becomes the property of the state and institutions.

The tendency to shift toward a more centralized system of control should be an extremely disturbing idea for everybody. It does not matter if it is about health, the objective here is power. The way that this initiative is being launched is as unobtrusively as possible, and with virtually no public debate, is more than sufficient to prove the EU’s disdain for democracy and popular opinion. This is not their ‘empowerment; it is the creation of a surveillance state in the name of public health.
