I personally have no interest in storing my money in a cold wallet type thing. Too unlucky, clumsy, etc to trust myself with it.
A savings account at a bank is quite simple today. I'd hope to see this user experience transfer to the bitcoin world too.

One need not choose between just "footshooter" and "giving your money to someone else". There are more than just two options.
Thinking creatively is not against the bitcoin ethos.
