I just had a discussion with @Fabs about what he does with his sats.
I was surprised to find out that he also keeps his balance on here.
I know SN is changing their wallet features.
I am just curious, are there any others that dont take anything out of SN?
Or if you do take it out, what do you use it for?

Nothing, becaus after zapping back. I don't have so much

reply

It is always a good philosophy.
Keeping the sats in the ecosystem is healthy!

reply

Yes you are right

reply

I keep them all here and zap back. Sometimes I zap large(r) amounts as gifts for inspired content with accumulated earnings. So if you get a 5k or 10k zap from me, now you know.

reply

If you ever need to practice your zapping-skills, I'll volunteer.

reply

Those zaps are always a good surprise!

reply

Zap other people as much as I can

reply

Yup. I'm 180k sats net negative lol

reply

What?
You are negative?

reply

553.9k stacked \ 734.3k spent

Here for fun and to support the community.

reply

lol
You play in style.

reply

This is always a good philosophy.

reply

I zap them back!

reply

Even though you zap back, you still accumulate some in the long run.

reply

May be I'm just from a few days here so let's see what happens. If I accumulate 10000 or 20000 sats, I would also distribute here.

But it will take too much time to accumulate 10000 sats.

reply

I dont know if any of the older SNers remember this, but after you get to 10k, you cant really see your balance.
It rounds up, which is kind of different.
I always liked seeing every sat increase and decrease as I used it.
I eventually got used to it, though.

reply

I zap them back!

reply

Thats good!

reply

I follow the @Fabs strategy.

reply

🙂. There's actually a strategy called the "Fabian" strategy, a military strategy where pitched battles and frontal assaults are avoided in favor of wearing down an opponent through a war of attrition and indirection.

reply

Is that what we're doing?

reply

No, we're slowly enriching ourselves while making others happy, too! 🙂.

reply

As I've seen the cowboys ahead of me slowly drop off, it does feel like I'm winning by attrition.

reply

Yeah, you've got quite the streak; If I'd own a hat myself, I sure would've tipped it your way!

reply

Oh wait, I do!

"Tips hat in a slow- yet determined way"...

reply

But you have a territory that takes a big chunk of your sats, right?

reply

Nope. I'm just a wanderer in these territories, offering my services wherever I can.

reply

Your balance must be up there.
I told Fabs I wanted to have the highest balance on SN.
His was larger.... deflated me instantly.

reply

I would wager mine is the largest, because anyone who's made more than me is also too smart to keep it here.

reply

Maybe someday you will use it, and mine will be larger :P
Plus you will have to be paying for the territory you are going to start.

reply

I have an aversion to taking it out of the SN ecosystem, but I’ll get over that at some point.

reply

I do, too.
Im not really interested in the profit.
But it does allow you to have freedom to post the way you like.

Yeah, I'm with ya on that.

reply

I zap back some sats and rest sats Stacking for rent a territory in future for Hindi language.

reply

You should get together with all the other guys and make a territory together.
Start it up early so you can drum more interest.

reply

I will try my best.

reply

Good luck man

reply
reply

All my SN zaps are still right here. My balance is small enough that I’m fine with leaving it right here for now.

reply

Eventually you might invest in a territory!
Save while you can, in the future, we might only be seeing 1 sat zap comments.

reply

there shall be 1-1000 millisat zaps

reply

Probably a really stupid question but I thought 1 sat was the smallest denomination of Bitcoin. How to millisats work?

reply

https://fanismichalakis.fr/posts/millisatoshis/
basically, millisats are valid on the lightning network, not on the mainchain.

reply

Thank you for sharing that. Millisats make a lot more sense now.

This was the part that I was missing:

Upon closure, the amount of funds you own in a channel is rounded to the nearest satoshi. Got 100,011.430 sats? That’s 100,011 sats when you go back on-chain. Where did the 430 millisats go? They were simply pocketed by your peer on this channel, because his amount was something like 36500.570 sats, which is rounded up to 36501 sats in the channel closing transaction
reply

I didnt know that either.

reply

I’ve thought about creating a territory but most of what I can think of is already here. Yeah I’m worried the zaps will go down once the new wallet changes fully take effect same thing happened to Nostr once Apple cracked down on zaps.

reply

I was thinking they would decrease because the value of bitcoin increases.
When we look back to this time, we will be amazed that @grayruby was random zapping 1 to 1000.

reply

That is true too. I noticed that trend on Nostr as well. When Bitcoin was low, Zaps were larger and more frequent. Then as the value of Bitcoin rose, the frequency and quantity of zaps went down.

reply

I think things fluctuate as the price fluctuates, and more people get into it.

reply

Nice try, Fed.

reply

Haha
I was wondering when I was going to get this comment.

reply

I was surprised it wasnt already made. 🤣

reply

Yes, seems like many of my posts need this comment.

reply

Well hot damn! He did it, he really did it.

There's a surprising amount of engagement, too!

It does look like we are a bit special, ain't it? 👀🤭

reply

Haha
You are so late to the show.
There was quite a bit of engagement.
You made me do all the heavy lifting.

reply
You made me do all the heavy lifting.

I did that all out of love, of course, I want to see you grow both mentally and physically... 🌝

reply
reply

No? No warm tingles in your belly after reading all that?

What. A. Shame.What. A. Shame.

reply

I used to buy gift cards with extra sats earned on SN but now I just pay for the territory with them.

reply

Are you able to make enough to pay for the territory?

reply

Yes. Not in territory revenue but territory revenue plus what I stack in zaps and rewards over the month is usually just enough to cover.

reply

Thats good.
I always feel your sports posts do well.
I would comment more if I knew about half of the things you talk about. haha

reply

They usually do pretty well. I have been doing them a long time now. I started posting about sports daily July 2023. Before that I only ever posted about sports if I was doing a contest for playoffs or something like that.

reply

Yes, your territory has a lot of activity! :)

reply

I zap back some and withdraw some.

reply

What do you do with your withdrawn sats?

reply

I'm stacking them only.

reply

Stack'em, what kinda question is that? :-)

reply

Not everyone has this mentality.

reply

I think it makes sense to keep at least 50% to help keep the SN economy running ie to fund your zaps and posts etc. No hard and fast rules though! Whatever works for the SNer. Glad to be here!

reply

Yeah, one needs ammo in order to shoot, after all!

Glad to be here!

And boy are we happy to have ya!

reply

Thanks! Very heart warming….

reply

Collect it to zap some interesting content over here
Atm these sats as game tokens I can send to real people

reply

Of course, interesting comments and posts always get the zaps!

reply

Half of them are still here and remaining i transferred it to my wallet. Hoping for someday it worth it enough to do something good.

reply

Me and you both.
Hopefully all the sats I store here can be used for retirement.

reply

My balance mostly lives here, but I don't have so much that it's something I generally need to think about.

reply

Same with mine.
Makes things easy.

reply

TheWildHustle likes connecting rewards and zaps to the sn wallet and autowithdrawing to strike once the balance is over 11k. From there he'll either throw sats into jam on start9, buy a giftcard from thebitcoincompany, buy some ai credits, zap some freaks etc.

I don't think we have a product out in bitcoin that allows users to easily track how much they're zapping vs getting zapped. Most freaks probably have 3-4 transaction histories, which when put together, detail a clearer picture.

Would be cool if the unified balance nostr wallet nip, generates excitement around some sort of sat stream visualizer to accompany it.

reply

I moved some of the sats earned here to my SATs Piggy Bank, the rest is used to zap users and pay the fee to post some content.

reply

Stacking sats is always a good idea.

reply

I'm still collecting them, hopefully one day the price of sats can soar high and they can be used only for necessary needs.

reply

Yes, hopefully bitcoin increases in value by many times.
And we have all stacked enough for our retirement.

reply

That's right, I also hope for that, friend, that the savings we need in old age and retirement have been collected and we just have to enjoy them.

reply

I may be in the minority.
I spend them like a BOSS

reply

Haha I know you do.
Spend them like they are going out of style.
Each to their own.

reply

I’ve used it to pay for VPN services a few times. Over a years worth of Mullvad VPN.

I also use it to cover fees when doing swaps from lightning to on chain

reply

VPN.
That is interesting.
Something I should think of doing.

reply

The truth is that I am new to stackers news and because I am new I have only a few sats stacked and the person who is teaching my brother and me from the beginning told us that everything we stack. We must return 20% in order to keep the sats in circulation... and I have done so every day and since this application, if that's what it could be called, it is job by job... I think that others also deserve their reward for their publications... So we all feel motivated to interact with more people who are in the world of cryptoeconomics.. 💪

reply

Yep, it's a constant give-and-take, otherwise the system won't work.

reply

I use SN zap to my wallet and betting site

  • Zap interesting stuff
  • Spend the sats by posting new stuff and participating in discussion
  • Withdraw when they are needed elsewhere
reply

i will just keep in my stacker

I zap about as much as I get so it stays pretty constant. Sometimes I take some out to zap over nostr, or to donate to projects I like.

reply

Ah, a 1:1 ratio huh? I'm currently setting my aim on a 1:4 ratio.

reply

It goes down usually but then I write a post every now and then that does surprisingly well and it goes back up.

I found this general balance after raising my default zap to 101 sats.

reply

Right.
Supporting the ecosystem is always good.
I just havent had a need to take mine out yet.
Maybe someday in the future, especially with this wallet upgrade happening.
