I think as SN moves away from reliance on the custodial wallet, it would be good to post about experiences so far. This is all SN mobile PWA.
  • Blixt works pretty well for receive only through an LN address. Just keep in mind that you have to access the lightning address by going to advanced settings and accessing the lightning box. From there it's simple.
  • I tried connecting my Umbrel node via LNC through Lightning Terminal. I use LNC like this to connect my Zeus wallet and it works great. Unfortunately, Umbrel doesn't support https, which SN requires for this connection. I will try it on my start9 node. It should work fine, I hope.
  • I tried connecting to SN through WebLN on my Blixt Wallet, since it has a lightning browser. I cannot figure out how to do this. I'm sure someone here can provide some insight.
  • I tried connecting my node through NWC through an Oak Node app on Umbrel, but haven't succeeded yet. @ek is looking into it for me.
  • I hooked up @supertestnet's new Bankify wallet #647681 with NWC for zapping. It worked, but this is an experimental wallet, so it's not a compete solution yet. It also is custodial and there's a risk of losing your sats. I only used a small amount to test. Still, the design makes it easy for non techies to use. I zapped a lot with it late last night. I forgot I was hooked up to it so I was my usual zap happy self, which may be the reason many zaps failed. However, some worked. It seems that the odds improved over WiFi as opposed to my graphene pixel data carrier.
That's it for now. Please post your experiences in reply, especially if you have one that works particularly well.
Great recap Siggy. I like Blixt as well. Been using it a lot lately.

Do you understand the WebLN connection? Blixt has that lightning browser, but I don't understand how to make the connection. If it works well, I think Blixt will be a good option for both sending and receiving.
reply
I can use the lightning browser to open SN but only as anon. Also used it to open lightning roulette which is a fun way to lose some sats.
reply
Yes. I'm having the same problem. I can only get it to work as anon. I have also donated some sats to lightning roulette!
reply
I am hoping that LNC works!! Let us know how start9 works.

Thanks! It's a good article! I've recently started in Bitcoin. I don't know much but yesterday I used lightning for the first time and I was really surprised, if not better it's as smooth as UPI in India.

what I did was connect Alby with Blink ( with the API ) , it works amazing!

Here is the best SN wallet setup I found ✌🏽
  • Receiving: Blink LN address
  • Sending: Alby, but back-end with Blink's API
Another beautiful thing of this setup is you are pretty much sending and receiving from the same wallet, no need to worry about running out of sats:)
reply
Thanks. I plan on doing that on desktop. Two things:
  1. I can't use Alby on mobile
  2. I hate the Alby log in thing. I use it now on desktop for nostr and I will probably start with it for SN on desktop, but I would like another solution eventually. Also, Blink is banned in the US. I'm also trying to avoid any wallets that require you to create an account.

indeed tricky this way, and I don't use SN on mobile ( hmm, maybe lurking sometimes ) πŸ˜‚

You can also use https://github.com/fiatjaf/nos2x for Nostr, Alby for SN; Or to keep things simple, both with Alby.
Also, Blink is banned in the US. I'm also trying to avoid any wallets that require you to create an account.
VPN would do! #259866 and I used https://sms4sats.com/ to create the account, then removed the number after you linked the mail.
reply
Very good workarounds! I use nos2x on desktop too. Thanks.

I assumed would have easy ways for the mobile one day, or maybe use the cowboy credits? ✌🏽
reply
We'll see about those cowboy credits! You raise another good point. For convenience it's important to be able to use one wallet. I really hope we get a reliable NWC connected wallet, and that SN includes NWC sending and receiving soon. One wallet is so important. SN zapping will suffer if people have to keep loading a send only wallet with sats.
reply
yes, it happened to me before and it's quite annoying to need to load up the sending wallet πŸ‘€ then it led me to discover this trick!

Being worked on as we speak
If I can figure out WebLN on Blixt that could be a good setup for me.
Thanks for sharing your experiences so far.

Blixt works well enough to receive only via LN addresses. Keep in mind that you have to access the lightning address by going to advanced settings and accessing the lightning box. From there, everything is easy.
I have seen many wallets, but there are some wallets that I think are easy to understand, and I also want to try blixt according to your post, thank you for sharing.

What is exactly lighting browser Idk can someone tell me

Where did you see lightning browser?

Oh yeah, that. I've seen it before. Never touched it. Who has?
reply
I honestly haven't a clue.

Thank you

Are you sure you mean LNC? LNC doesn’t require a url at all
reply
My mistake. This is the error I get: WebAssembly.instantiateStreaming(): Refused to compile or instantiate WebAssembly module because 'unsafe-eval' is not an allowed source of script in the following Content Security Policy directive: "script-src 'self' 'unsafe-inline' 'nonce-NDg4MGMxNTgtOWNjYS00YzYwLWE1OTItMzc0NGNjYzg1M2Y1' 'strict-dynamic' https:"
Keep in mind I got this message from the Lightning Terminal beta LNC connection. It has worked great for me in the past.

Ah, we should be able to fix that.

Great to hear.

Just a quick note. I was jumping through hoops trying to connect my node via NWC with Oak node. I just used the Alby Hub NWC app. (Thanks @Natalia for the hint.) It couldn't have been simpler. Now I have NWC and LNC send capability to my node, and receive through my Blixt lightning address.
reply
stackers have outlawed this. turn on wild west mode in your /settings to see outlawed content.

Sure. Maybe with all my messing around I didn't get the message. Can you send it again now?
