I would say they are looking to build relationships to get the SEC off their back. No matter how much they seem to win these court cases are getting stupid expensive and I guarantee that the campaign support is a much cheaper option!

I know a lot of people hate Coinbase and Ripple here but the races they are pouring money into are in races where the opponent is a hard no for crypto. Better to make some progress than none as it has and will continue to take time to get the best people into Congress enacting laws.
