pull down to refresh

Hi everyone,

A very good morning from India!

I had a planned visit to Delhi till last few minutes. For some reason this has got cancelled. I'm feeling very relieved because for some days, I've been travelling a lot. I needed a break. Not a very big break but a small one will do.

I'm happy that I've got some free time more physically than mentally. Generally, on a free day, I watch on e or two movies and taking comfort in a couch!

Here's my dilemma of things. I don't know how to utilise free time in the best way? Tell me how do you spend your free time?

I enjoy my free time, which I have have in abundance, in my roof garden of hydroponics. I grow vegetables in there.

reply

Hydroponics! Amazing!
I think you must tell about it in detail

reply

Thanks! I'll post it in DIY in a few days.

I have 2 young kids that won’t nap and don’t go to bed at night so I have no free time. It has been years since I’ve been able to partake in a hobby :(

reply

Ohh! You must enjoy it!

reply

Making sure I enjoy the time I spend with my kids and playing with them keeps me sane otherwise I would be a total wreck by now due to lack of sleep and no time to unwind.

reply

Take care, buddy.
The light at the end of the tunnel will come one day

reply

Thank you. I’m just taking it one day at a time. As a parent I’ve found that it really is true that the days are long but the years are short. I know one day I’ll wake up and the house will be empty and I’ll wonder where all the time went.

reply

I spend most of my free time with my kiddos and on Stacker News. I have a lot of free time.

reply

I wish I also had lot of free time!
Maybe in future I'll have.
Spending time with kids is worth the time. Stacker news is also awesome. I'm new but but really getting used to here.

reply

I also love to watch movies and web series in free time.

reply

Great! I've been doing the same but I'm now fed of doing all of this.

Do some pondering on your life, e.g. on such question: "If I were to die in 1 hour, what would I regret the most?". If you provide honest answers, the next time you have free time, you'll instantly know what to do...

reply

This is very spiritual!

Go Outside. Go to the woods/mountains/sea whatever you have it close by. Take a deep breath and enjoy the silence. Watch a sunrise or sunset, watch birds or wild animals (one can learn a thing or two from them ) Disconnect for a while, unplug. You will thank me later...

reply

Thanks!
Disconnecting for a while really works. I've Himalayas near by and most of my free days go in hiking trekking

reply

I like to spend my free time with nature

reply

Oh! You mean hiking or wandering in the woods. Don't become Wordsworth of modern times!

reply

This is challenging for me since just about all my time is free time. I struggle at times to find a balance between chasing things that make me feel good and are productive. When I worked a regular job, it was easier to find that balance. I enjoy being free, but I have to practice a lot of discipline.

True!

August is the month for us to rest and relax. Find ways to recharge yourself and take a break from high velocity and chaotic situations. There are YouTube videos with suggestions like ice baths and exercise. Whatever you do, I recommend you do it in a state of love. Many blessings from the US. I hope you find what you are looking for.

reply

Thanks!

Why August is the month to rest and relax? Never heard about it!

reply

I’m in North Carolina. It might be a Southern thing due to the heat at the end of summer. I’m not sure why actually.

reply

Exercise, sexercise, walking my dog, stacker news, learning about BTC, sleeping, etc.

reply

Thanks! Great suggestions, especially the sexercise one!

Oof! Beaches are like more than 1000 kms from me at least. I also love them.

In my case there is sometimes a fine line between free time and work.
Sometimes it's clear that I'm working, other times e.g. when studying I'm both working (because it benefits my wealth) and enjoying myself.

But my non-work free time includes being in nature, hiking, beach time, gardening, watching easier videos that don't require much attention.

Thanks!
Well said!

I read and post my writings here and on my personal blog.
