What constitutes a simplex like tool? I use Telegram, I also have 0 expectations of privacy because it's on someone else's server 

Metadata *is*, if you're going to run your own relay then there's no advantage vs nostr... otherwise you're just trading one metadata aggregator for another

Also...isn't leaking the metadata a big deal? With Simplex it isn't possible to leak the metadata (that's my understanding).

I don't get it, its not much different than ephemeral nostr keys and trusting the relay not to leak metadata... but with none of the network effect and seemingly less practical to distribute the relays

It's really sad how regularly "privacy" apps spread through virtue signaling, not substance
