There’s the idea of ‘Wetiko’ or ‘mind virus’ which pertains to a kind of mind control.

It’s probably present to some extent within every cult and perhaps organised religions and political movements.

I became particularly interested in the modern progressive left and ‘woke’ movement because I was part of those groups for a long time.

To be fair I never really bought into the woke stuff and as it got more extreme I began to question the left more and more until I eventually broke through what I now consider was a kind of veil over my consciousness. Perhaps my libertarian tendencies saved me I’m not sure but many of my friends and family still seem utterly spellbound by the leftist media and cannot stop consuming it.
