No, I'm not joking. The question is genuine. I think so because we've got so much less time to attain all what we want from our lives. There might be many ifs and buts and many goals that remain unfulfilled when we near the inevitable. The answer to this question may vary to a great degree from person to person, so I'm putting it in a poll. Let's see what's the best amount of time a life requires to attain the summit when nothing remains to be done.
BTW, this question was asked to me in a personality development class by our trainer. I was greatly astonished to listen answers then and I'm sure I'm gonna be astonished today as well.

Amazing! This question has already got 37 votes! While I'd say a life lived for purpose will be a life lived no matter how much time.

I'm also not joking 😃.
If we get an option to live forever, why shouldn't we choose that one? Those who say that body will wear out after 60 or 70 or 80 years. I wanna ask - when you have an option to live forever, you can only live when you don't get your body worn out with the time passing away.

50 to 60 enough for me

This is funny, serious, interesting, intelligent, complicated, simple, meaningful, nonsense, sincere and absolutely a tricky question.

The average life expectancy of humans by sex in developed and some not so developed countries is 70 to 80 years. It was not always like this, but that is another topic. What is interesting is that a man who was not a doctor, although he was well educated, but dedicated 40 years of his life to the care of sheep, declared before 460 BC:
"Our life span is seventy years, or eighty if someone has special strength. But those years are full of difficulties and sorrows; they pass quickly, and we disappear."
Interesting that this man said this when he was still living for more than 100 years.
It is clear that although I would like to die, because no one in their right mind wants to die, and we know that because when someone is sick and understands that their life is in danger, they go to the doctors. I would not like to continue living in a world like the current one, where there is so much suffering, evil, inequality, illness, death, hunger, wars and similar things. But I also know that this is going to change and when it changes I want to be there to enjoy good things always.
It seems that some of us, including myself, find it difficult or have found it difficult to believe that living forever is impossible. But since ancient times the search for living forever has been within the goals of people who have somehow been related to some form of science, including ALCHEMY. And this desire does not arise from nowhere, let us note this statement made by Solomon:
"He has made everything beautiful in its due time. He has even put eternity in their hearts..."
More recently, the discovery of DNA elements called TELOMERES has occurred and they are associated with cellular longevity. You can look for information about this and if you wish we can share it later in this magnificent space.
Well, yes, I would like to live forever, it is possible and it will happen, just not with the current depressing conditions.

Thank you so much for writing in detail. Every word of yours makes complete sense. I'll look for what you suggested and we'll discuss it later.

I see there are studies that link stress to telomere shortening. I think it probably works both ways like a lot of things do. People who want to live forever should cultivate a stress free existence.

my intent is to go all the way. life is the reality. death and brain death are legal fictions.

As I answered in the survey, from 60 to 80 years old is fine... from 80 years onwards the body does not respond and that is if you do not start to suffer from some horrible disease... and you become a problem for your children... it is better to exercise... eat well and try to get to that age in the best possible condition..!! you take your viagra and you are happy🎉

I don't want to live for eternity - just long enough to experience a few hundred of humanity where interplanetary travel is common. So, at least, 1000 years.
reply
That makes sense. Would you also like to travel to another planets?
reply
Heck yeah. Would be a waste of 1,000+ years if I didn't. Lol. I'm kidding. I'm sure I'd get up to or experience other things that would've made life interesting during my lifetime.

You wouldn't want to live forever.
If you're still healthy and everything is functioning well may as well keep going for as long as possible.
Bitcoin has a long way to go BTW. It would be nice to see how it plays out into the last block subsidies around 2140 (I think!?).

Superb! I really like it. This may be great if all of us can survive till 2140 and talk about this post from 2024. Won't be the coolest memory of us?
