I must admit it. Last Sunday, it was the first time I watched an NFL game. Or sort of. As I was following the Buffalo Bills, my pick in the survivor pool, I had to watch something call the Red Zone, as the TV provider here was not showing this specific fixture.
The Sunday fixtures were played while Spain was playing against Switzerland in the initial stage of the European Nations league (we won 1-4, playing with just 10 players over 70 minutes). This time I was more concentrated in the NFL.
It was a bit of a shock initially to see how they were losing, considering I thought that I had chosen a safe pick for the first week. They managed to come back in the second half, though it was tight up to the end.
It has triggered me to seek for the rules and to try understanding the game, which I have done today. I was very confused about the downs and yards, to be honest. So, I expect getting better next week when I watch next game.
At least, I make it to the second week of the survivor pool!!!

Being in a pool can teach you about a sport quickly. I learned so much about cricket by participating in the pool a few months ago.

Agree. I can understand better now what I watch, next learn players. Too many changes in one match, not able to follow yet.

Meanwhile I’ve watched tons of NFL games and yet my pool pick, the bengals, lost lol

Well, Bengals were going to be my pick and decided to change it for Bills at last minute.

You already understand the game theory of survivor!
I tried explaining football to my non American neighbors many years ago on a Monday night game: the goal of football is to move the ball at least 10 yards in 4 attempts or less. Keep advancing the ball until you run out of attempts or a position to score a field goal or touchdown
This game is more complicated to explain in words vs television lol

That’s what I have understood from reading rules and makes sense after watching games last night. It’s been always a bit confusing for me, now I got it.

Good call haha

That was a fun game. I was worried because I have Josh Allen, the Bills QB, on my fantasy team, but he came on big in the second half.

He was one the names I learned yesterday!
