Thanks. I needed this reminder. I used to waste hours building useless projects and working hard to solve things no one needed, yet it was fun. Slowly, I've been getting under pressure that no, no, I need to learn to market my skills so I can get a job in the future. I need to do more web development because that's all jobs care about, and that's been killing my productivity even more.
Programming as a hobby is much more fun. I like to create silly scripts that do something and be proud of them, or I waste hours reinventing the wheel because I want to know how the wheel works and have a version I can call my own.
