As I've learnt, "Stay Humble and Stack Sats" is not just a phrase, it's the final destination, the summit, the deepest point of the rabbit hole all Bitcoiners must aim. But it's that stage which requires years of learning, patience, pertinence and determination to stick to the aim — the way — Satoshi mentioned in the famous Whitepaper.
As far as I know Staying Humble and Stacking Sats is a journey. And, my journey in Bitcoin has completed 5 years today. It was on September 11, 2019 when I first stepped foot into Bitcoin what now has become a part and parcel of my life. So, here's I wanna tell you my perception how I think a journey of "Staying Humble and Stacking Sats" look like.
  1. You keep denying to the Bitcoin movement. You just can't believe it.
  2. You join it not for the movement but for the greed of easy gains. You want Bitcoin make you rich overnight.
  3. You found something that somehow made you believe that Bitcoin is Bigger than what you had been thinking about it.
  4. But, with learning or more reading, you're also filled with some form of Skepticism regarding Bitcoin's capabilities. (You know all those myths)
  5. Again, you find something that boosts your confidence in Bitcoin. Now you know the truth and don't bother with the myths.
  6. You find the rabbit hole
  7. You do DCA but You still feel emotions while Bitcoin's fiat price move up and down.
  8. You mind starts refusing Fiat money.
  9. You start earning and spending only in Bitcoin.
  10. You continue to stack sats with a purpose and clarity of thought.
However still a learner, I'm not sure if these are the stages that a Bitcoiner goes through, I'm ready to learn. On these stages. I've only written with my own experiences till the sixth or seventh stage. But the rest of them have been taken from the experiences of Stackers who I feel privileged to be interacting on a regular basis here on SN.
So, I humbly request you to correct me wherever possible on this and guide me 'what does it really mean to "Stay Humble and Stack Sats"?

I wrote about my thoughts on this last year in Bitcoin and my kids - A perspective from a father
Stay humble:
Don't be dumb. Don't over extend yourself and get into debt. Stack sats on a regular basis. Don't gamble and try to play the markets. Stay humble. Learn to grow food. Learn to be prepared for the most likely disasters (ie not nuclear holocaust). What are the most likely events that would impact you and your family where you live? Use your brain and seek out resources on preparedness. Teach your kids to be self reliant. Don't raise kids, raise adults.
Stack sats:
Focus on building wealth for your family. I don't stack sats primarily for myself. I do it for my family. I don't know when bitcoin will win but I know it will be at some point in the future so I'm focused on stacking as much as I can while I can. My goal isn't to give my children a certain amount. My goal is to get them to value bitcoin and learn skills to allow them to stack sats for themselves. Yes, I have given them bitcoin but the bigger goal is to give them knowledge and skills and help them realize their full potential. If you aren't balanced in your perspective with your family you can end up with offspring that have bitcoin but don't know why it is important. If you don't have a healthy and positive relationship with your family they will not listen to you either so remember those are the most important things.

I like that you made this post. I've been thinking that it would be fun to have posts that explain the various slogans that we throw around.
reply
Thanks! What do I say now? I'm again surprised. I told you I remember that we both are like minded!
I've been thinking about it too because I see they are used a lot but I doubt everyone fully understands them.
reply
I also think a lot of them are deeper than they might seem on the surface, which you captured nicely with this one.
Some options to choose from:
  • Bitcoin fixes this
  • Fix the money, fix the world
  • Tick tock, next block
  • 1 Btc = 1 Btc
  • Have fun staying poor
No doubt I'm forgetting some obvious ones.
reply
Thanks! Yes, these are a few others. There are many and there's also no restriction to creating some new one. Do you wish to come up with any of them?
reply
I forgot "Gradually, then suddenly"
One I like is similar to that in meaning, but different in tone: "Slow is smooth and smooth is fast."
reply
It's actually a great one!
This one's also got some other meaning, a nasty one, I guess. Am I right?
reply
I hadn't considered that, but it could certainly be used that way.

It's funny. Do you want to write about any or all of them?
Thank you so much for the post about this saying. I've heard it so many times but I wasn't sure what it really means. Now I have sone idea.

Nice question. I agree with your perception. We are Indians. In India we are always taught to be humble Bitcoin taught me how to stack.

I say it to others, but it is a mantra for me.

Thanks! This is one nice short one!

Great post. I like how you outline the journey of a typical Bitcoiner. I think staying humble to me is living a simple lifestyle and cutting out the fat from a consumerist lifestyle and not being obsessed with the monetary value of my BTC accumulated. Just be
reply
Thanks 🙏 That's the simplest way! I like when you use Bitcoin for buying goods. That is really amazing and I believe that's the aim of Bitcoin.

To me it just means avoid hubris. Don't think you can time the market. Don't think you can leverage trade and get rich. Just use Bitcoin as a savings technology.
reply
Thanks for the answer! Only saving not as spending. Can the saving them all makes you a real Bitcoiner?
reply
a randomly generated number that i never give out is the one thing in the whole universe that i create on my own that has the potential to become more valuable that a thousand signatures that i have given out for worthless services throughout my lifetime.
now that's worth being humble about and stacking.
reply
Thanks for the answer! This definitely makes sense. So you don't spend in Fiat, only Bitcoin?

For those afraid of facing the rabbit hole.

Bitcoin Bud Bless You.

Staying humble means being aware of what is happening in SN. There is information overload. There is a fast paced exchange of data. Despite and inspite all that we can peruse. We can adapt.
