A specialized handbook on UFOs, or UAPs (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena), has been circulated among police chiefs across the United States. Issued by the Major Cities Chiefs Association, this 11-page document offers essential information on UFO sightings and related topics to assist law enforcement in managing such cases.

Titled “Reference Guide”, the handbook covers a wide range of topics, from the Department of Defense’s current position on UAPs to resources like UFO report archives and declassified files.

One notable section, “Law Enforcement Considerations,” emphasizes the potential threat UAPs pose to national security, stating:

“Reports released by AARO and ODNI, as well as other U.S. Government and non-profit organizations, claim that UAP present a clear threat to national security, as their origins and capabilities are unknown.”

“It is in law enforcement’s interest to stay informed about UAP trends and reports, given the potential risks they may present and their frequent presence in controlled and restricted airspace, including areas where police air support units operate.”
