The aren't stupid, in the slightest. This is working pristinely perfectly for them. People supporting the scam and keeping it alive have sole responsibility, to such an extent that this can't be called a scam anymore, they are getting exactly all of what they're asking for.

the problem is that with the climate apocalypse they have created an incentive system that has made so many entrepreneurs and executives dependent that the public space is flooded with this gobbledygook and free speech is no longer visible

Sure that didn't help but we didn't had any concern on climate change here back in 1946 when people went all in into full blown socialism. The core reason is divided depending on the classes:

Utter hubris in the upper classes.
Utter indifference in the middle classes.
Utter resentment in the lower classes.

In that context, any excuse at hand is good to start the socialist downward spiral. Take from them climate change and they will immediately find another reason, and you will be left in awe by seeing the very people that made of that excuse their quintessential raison d'etre for decades smoothly and swiftly shifting to the new excuse as if that one was actually the real one all the time.

Remember, always remember 1984: "we have always been at war with Eurasia". That's the one and only mechanism at play. Excuses like "climate change" are symptoms, not causes, take that from them and they will continue unscathed with another just like "we have always been at war with Eurasia".

Interesting point. Kind of how global warming (i.e. it's gotta get warmer) turned into climate change (any change works).
