Can you prove you represent Airbnb? We get a lot of fakers

reply

Yes. I will make a post in the blog section of the website, noting this discussion and paste the link here.

What is Airbtc? Is it a shitcoin?

reply

NO!!

We are a Bitcoin-only property booking platform. By Bitcoiners for Bitcoiners.

No shitcoins!

reply

Aha, as you had not put any context or website in your post, I quickly googled you and stumbled on a similarly named shitcoin. I'm sorry for the clear offense I must have caused you ;) Take some sats for my penitence.

reply

Hahaha, yes we are aware of the similarly named shitcoin. Understood. Thanks for the sats!

reply

Superb!
Where are you based?
What are the benifits we get from you over others?

reply

We were founded in Cape Town, South Africa, but we now have team members in the US and Asia.

We are bitcoin-only. You can expect to meet other bitcoiners on your travel, you can instantly book any listing with lightning, and if you ate a host, you can get sats directly to your Bitcoin wallet of choice.

reply

Great initiative!

reply

What's your website? You clearly didn't mention it here?

What's the idea behind AirBTC?

reply

airbtc.online

We are a Bitcoin-only booking platform. By Bitcoiners for Bitcoiners.

reply

Great idea!

reply

I recommended your services to some tourist apartments owners. But until now none of them I see them listed. Maybe were afraid to start.

How would you approach an owner to list his properties on your website?
What key points you want to tell them in order to get onboard?

We need more properties there, I know is a new site but I think is not well known around.

reply

By listing on Airbtc, you can earn sats directly to any wallet of your choice. On-chain or lightning. Furthermore, bitcoin travelers could book your property. At this stage, we are targeting bitcoiners. Our target market is not non-bitcoiners, it would be hard to understand the benefits of using a service such as ours.

reply

Now that you are on SN, you could post each day one property on Agora territory, to promote renting properties with BTC https://stacker.news/~AGORA

MAKE NOISE until people get it.

reply

Great idea. Will look into that.

Are you actively trying to onboard landlords? If so, how do you do this and where do you find them? What's the strongest appeal for a future customer of airbtc.online compared to AirBnB (as a renter and landlord)?

reply

Being a Bitcoin-only platform allows us to accept listings from anyone around the world instantly. You can get paid in Bitcoin directly to your wallet of choice, and you will gain access to potential new Bitcoin-only travellers. You also support a Bitcoin-only business and help build the Bitcoin circular economy. You could also meet like-minded people. We also aim to function as a Bitcoin-only travel hub where Bitcoiners can view and book Bitcoin destinations they want to travel to.

reply

Nice to see you here!

How are you planning to deal with all bs regulations around hospitality, KYC for guests and properties owners/businesses, etc...?

reply

Each host has the responsibility to abide by the rules of their particular jurisdiction. We handle each case of KYC on an individual basis, for now. We have various ways to confirm the identity of users. We have approved a user via his Nostr account.

reply

Hopefully that's not something that needs dealing with.
It's only for those operating in the bs compliant fiat economy.

Is there a bond you need to pay to stay at one of the properties?

reply

Landlords can require a deposit. The deposit is also paid in sats and returned to the guest after the stay.

reply

Are your services intended to be an alternative to Travala or Airbnb? Accepting only Bitcoin?

reply

We are Bitcoin only. We only accept payment in bitcoin and only pay out in bitcoin. Aorbtc does not have a fiat bank account. Travala is a fiat offramp.

reply

Feel free to post more info on r/BitcoinNewZealand
Lots of NZ Bitcoiners like to travel.
I think your business is a great idea.

reply

Thank you! I will do that!

reply

What are the requirements to be listed on airbtc?

reply

We are taking listings from all over the world. We have a verification process that we handle on a case-by-case basis. If you own the property, you can list it.

reply

Thanks!

reply

I scanned your website a few months back and the cost was quite high and very limited options. What is the plan to inspire growth? Targeting only bitcoiners and not competing on price is a losing business model. So many bitcoin companies fail because they can’t find market fit. Besides using bitcoin something has to convince me to use it.

reply

Hi! Thanks for your questions!

Our pricing is lower than competitor websites. We are a Bitcoin-only business. This is our entire concept. By bitcoiners for bitcoiners.

New listings are pouring in faster than we can approve them, and we are constantly adding new features to the website.

There are more than 4m Bitcoin addresses in the world with more than 0.1 BTC. The bitcoin-only market is large enough to sustain a business like this.

reply

Hopefully you are correct.

reply

Do you operate globally? Can you operate in Thailand? The government there has apparently banned MoE use of BTC but as you are not based there can people there use your site?

reply

Anyone from around the world can use Airbtc. Users should be careful not to break the law in their particular jurisdiction, though, but we will not stop you from our side.
