This currently only supports login with lightning or nostr
Does this mean you only see the option if you’re using one of these methods? Or will you see the option regardless but it won’t work if you aren’t using one of them?

The account that you're currently logged into can use any auth method but the account you want to login as must support either lightning or nostr. Setting the required cookies for this to work wasn't as easy for the OAuth providers and email.

Follow up: if I switch from an account with only email to one with lightning, does that mean I can’t switch back with re authenticating?

No, after you used switch accounts to login as another account, you can switch between them without reauthentication required. You can simply click on the account you want to use:
