That is a great question. I would love to see a list of the archives. I have seen a few come and go. The other day I was looking for an old post of mine and after a while I realized it was in a territory that no longer is here.
If we want to bring a territory back, can a new person do that? Is it just by picking the same name or does it have to go back to the original founder? And they can be renamed right?

Yeah, just type in the name when you're founding one, looks like total there've been 101 territories created. https://stacker.news/top/territories/forever I haven't figured out a way to sort by archived yet but you can scroll down and click on each to see if they're still around.
You just revive the territory and it becomes yours as if you made it.

It's so cool how many different ways we can rank and see the territories, comments, posts, stackers on this site. Great analytics. I was searching everywhere on this list with different variables and I couldn't find alter_native anywhere. It turns out I was assuming it was lower on the list than it was. We rank between 10 - 12 for every metric. Interesting. That feels good and gives me more confidence that it is a good idea to keep it around.

There are even some secret ones if you just edit the URL: #515630

Good point, maybe we should show archived in that list.
